A Theology of Stewardship at Stilwell UMC: Every offering and every gift, no matter the amount, is a meaningful act of discipleship and a valued investment in the mission and ministry of the church. As United Methodists, we understand stewardship not simply as fundraising, but as a faithful response to God’s generosity and grace.
We give and serve because we believe:
- Everything we have belongs to God. We are caretakers of God’s creation and channels through which God’s blessings flow.
- Stewardship is a spiritual practice. It shapes our hearts, deepens our gratitude, and keeps us connected to God and one another.
- Generosity is a means of grace. Like prayer, worship, and service, giving helps us grow in love for God and neighbor.
- Our gifts make God’s love tangible. Through our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness, we join in God’s redemptive work in the world.
- Stilwell United Methodist Church is one of the ways God changes lives. Together, we share the good news of Jesus Christ, nurture faith, serve our community, and live out our vision to Love God, Live Love.
IRA Direct Contribution
You may be looking for a way to make a big difference to help further our ministries or you may be interested in a tax efficient alternative to funding your annual pledge or other gift to our church. If you are 70½ or older the IRS requires you to take a “Required Minimum Distribution – RMD”. By transferring your contribution directly from your IRA to Stilwell United Methodist Church, you can lower your taxable income from your IRA withdrawals. An IRA charitable rollover is a great way you can help SUMC continue our ministries in Stilwell and beyond.
